BISD will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week from February 12 to February 15. It's a celebration of all the ways we can become a positive influence in each other's lives. Each campus will participate in theme days and activities to encourage and model kindness. #RAKWEEK #Bowiebuilt

National School Counseling Week 2023 is Feb. 5-9, 2024, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Bowie ISD values your input as we consider the instructional calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. The district has created several questions that we would like your thoughts, ideas, and feedback on to help assist in the calendar creation process. The District Calendar Committee, consisting of administrators, teachers, and parents, will use your feedback in the creation of next year's calendar and present a 24-25 calendar to the BISD School Board in February. BISD will have a regular start time for Monday, January 22, 2024.

BISD is closely monitoring the weather conditions and any changes that may occur this evening or overnight. At this time, there are no changes to tomorrow's schedule. However, if that changes, notifications will be made through parent communication, district social media, and local media.

Have you thought about being a Bowie ISD Substitute Teacher? We need YOU! You are invited to the Bowie ISD Substitute Training on January 23rd from 1-3 pm @ the Bowie Elementary Campus. Come to the training if you are at all interested. If you decide this is the job for you, you can start the application process. Winter is expected to arrive in Bowie soon! We want to remind you that Bowie ISD will notify you of delayed openings or closures through our parent communication emails, texts, and social media posts. It will be reported to the local news stations so you can view them on TV. Before freezing temperatures enter the area, this is also a good time to make sure your child has proper outerwear (coat, gloves, etc.) If your child is missing these items, check your school's lost and found or notify the school of your needs. Stay safe and warm and we will see everyone on Monday for school!

BISD hopes everyone had a blessed Christmas break. We are ready to return to school and see all of our students. Monday, January 8, 2024 teachers return for a professional development day and the students return on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. During this first week back after the Christmas break, students will have regular school days Tuesday-Friday to get in our 4 days for the week. Christmas Break will begin on December 21, 2023, with an early release day. BISD wished our students, staff, and their families a wonderful, safe break. Classes will resume on January 9, 2024.

Bowie Elementary and Bowie Intermediate were visited by JiJi, the main character in ST Math. They were so proud to take their picture with the inflatable JiJi today! WHAT IS ST MATH? It’s a K-5 visual instructional program that leverages the brain's innate spatial-temporal reasoning ability to solve mathematical problems. ST Math’s unique, patented approach provides students with equitable access to learning through challenging puzzles, non-routine problem-solving, and formative feedback.

Thank you to the families that donated to BISD Food Drive for the Bowie Mission for a total of 1,961 pounds. Bowie ISD would like to invite all Emergent Bilinguals (ESL families) to a night of fun and information. We will play Bingo while eating snacks and winning prizes. You will also learn how to help your student improve their reading comprehension skills and about the STAAR and TELPAS tests. Join us in the Bowie Intermediate cafeteria on November 27, 2023, at 6:00 PM. A translator will be present.
